Temple Overview
Constructed over hundreds of years by the Pharaohs, Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun, and many more, Luxor Temple was “the place of the First Occasion,” where the magical regeneration of god Amon happened during the yearly Opet festival , here the Pharaoh and his priests entered the temple and ceremonies were performed to regenerate Amon, recreate the cosmos and transfer Amon’s power to Pharaoh confirming his identity as a God on Earth. Parts of this vast complex include Tutankhamun´s colossal Great Colonnade Hall, almost 61 meters long, with 28 twenty-one-foot-high columns, the birth room, the chapel of Alexander the Great, and the sanctuary.
